At Resurrection Community Worship Center, we believe that baby dedication is a sacred and meaningful moment for families. It serves as a public declaration of a parent's commitment to raising their child according to God's Word and acknowledges that their child ultimately belongs to the Lord.
The practice of baby dedication is rooted in Scripture:
1 Samuel 1:27–28 (NASB)
Hannah prayed fervently for a child, and when God answered her prayer, she gave birth to Samuel. In gratitude, she brought him to the temple and said:
“For this boy I prayed, and the Lord has given me my petition which I asked of Him. So I have also dedicated him to the Lord; as long as he lives, he is dedicated to the Lord.”
Luke 2:22-24
After Jesus's birth, Mary and Joseph brought Him to the temple and dedicated Him to the Lord, following the customs of their faith and affirming their desire to raise Him in God’s ways.
These passages reflect the heart of dedication—entrusting a child to God’s purpose and care.
God’s plan for raising children is clearly outlined in Deuteronomy 6:5-9:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength... Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road...”
This scripture reminds us that the home is the primary place for spiritual training. Parents are called to model a life of faith, love, and obedience to God.
